How can we trace legends and folk tales so vividly inscribed in the Cambodian psyche back to their origins? Ghosts, wandering souls, malevolent or protective guardian spirits abound in Khmer folklore.
For several decades now, anthropologist Fabienne Luco has explored the Khmer cultural legacy from Angkorian times. She combines a creative approach of scriptural and artistic representations to a minutious gathering of oral traditions, finding striking dimensions to popular tales and legends.
Conference starts 6:30 pm, Sept. 12, 2017. In French, with simultaneous translations into Khmer and English.
Institut Français (French Institute), 218 Street 184, Phnom Penh.
