Well-protected from high-sea currents, Saracen Bay, Koh Rong Island, is definitely one of the best spots for swimming and watersports around Cambodia. Yet there are moments in the day when even the most enthusiastic sea lovers seek a respite from direct sun, salty water and the wind.
Then it is time for refreshing laps, some shaded lounging by the pool while the kids are playing in the not-too-deep, refreshing basin, a few steps away from Island Center Point's vast, breezy restaurant.
Stretching along the tree-shaded beach, the 25 m-long infinity pool has two depths on its 11-m width, one (1.3 m) for lap-swimming, the other (0.20 m) for lounging in the translucid water.
Ceramic-tiled, the basin catches the natural light from the sky and the nearby ocean. On the deck, sunbeds and chairs, with drinks and snacks available from dawn to evening.
Happy Hour by the pool: 2 PM-5 PM.
Fancy some siesta in one of the cabanas scattered under the trees? A kayak or paddleboard outing in the bay? Easy, and then back to the Lap and Lounge Pool for pre-dinner drinks before sampling the specials at Islander, the resort restaurant. Rounding up a 'cool' day at the beach.
