Hello, Neighbor!

City, Temples, Beach - three ways of enjoying Cambodia, its rich cultural heritage and natural bounties, for savvy travelers living within a 4-hour flight radius.

by Living Cambodia Team, 17 Aug. 2026

Three destinations. Three different sides of Cambodia. One easy, relaxing journey.

During Green Season (Aug-Oct), as national and regional airlines offer surprisingly attractive rates, it is a good time to combine three very
different sides of Cambodia in your travel plans — Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Koh Rong Sanloem.

Domestic flights between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville (Kompong Som) are currently available from around 25 USD, making it easier to combine the temples and the island in one journey. Phnom Penh can be conveniently added in between.

Prefer to travel by road? Safe buses, minivans and taxis are also available between the 3 main destinations we suggest in this human-made, tested and proved itinerary.

Hello, Neighbor! Siem Reap is waving at you. Come and meet ancient temples and peaceful surroundings during the quieter, greener season.

So, what to expect ?

River Life and Quaint Alleys

Phnom Penh doesn't boast the most spectacular skyline of Southeast Asia. Here, you won’t spend hours looking up at buildings simply because you often get the best views down by the river and through the urban fabric.

Watch the city move along the Four Rivers (Chaktomuk) and the Mekong. From Maadest WaterTower (one-of-the-kind, up-in-the-sky triplex suite), the city opens up towards the river and Koh Norea Bridge, a very different view of the capital. Make it another night at one of Maadest’s Jungloos along the rivers.

And if you want to see the Pearl of Asia from a stimulating angle, take to the river with Kanika Boat. [During the stay at any MAADS property, enjoy 10% off Kanika Cruise experience].

Some memorable moments wait for you probably at places you won’t find on a map. Look into the Dueng Hem alleys - no grand entrances but narrow lanes leading to morning markets, local food and coffee stalls, street art happenings and the everyday rhythms of neighborhood life, all waiting to be explored.

So no, Phnom Penh is not the ideal modern city. It is raw. It is unfiltered. That’s probably why you’ll remember it, you will feel it.
